Our Favorite Library has a New Website, Please be Patient While Links are Repaired

MCPL's new website as of January 24, 2020.
Our favorite library, Mount Clemens Public Library, has a new website today.

Its format has flexibility to accommodate a variety of devices like computers/laptops, tablets and smart phones. We are advised to please be patient while repairs are made to the many broken links that appeared after going live.

The new look of the Digital Archive.
At present, the library's catalog itself is the same with the same look and feel as before. The Library Events Calendar is the same too. But recently you may have noticed that the Suburban Library Cooperative's Digital Archive was updated to a new platform. At present there are five main collections (Local History and Genealogy are two of them) and each has many sub-collections to explore and search.

MCPL's new website as of January 24, 2020.
As soon as the genealogy and local history links on the website are repaired we will let you know.

Note: If you downloaded our flyer before 4:40 p.m. Wed., January 8, 2020, please be aware we had an error in the date of the Feburary Let's Talk...Genealogy meeting. It is corrected and a revised flyer has been posted. Thanks.
Hi Everyone!

We have released MCGG's 2020 Winter-Spring meeting schedules for our MCGG Friday Group and our Let's Talk...Genealogy discussion group on Wednesday.

The meeting dates and topics can be found on the respective pages of this blog site or in our Southeast Michigan Genealogy Events calendar on the Calendar page. (We have already updated the SouthEast Michigan Genealogy calendar for the area's other societies and groups.)

On both the MCGG Friday Meetings and Let's Talk Meetings pages, you will now find the PDF file link of our current meetings flyer which can be viewed and downloaded. (Please note the image of the flyer in this post is just a low-res image. To see/download the flyer PDF you need to go to either of the meeting pages.)

We hope you enjoy the coming genealogy season.

What is Behind those Changes of Terms of Use and Privacy at some Websites?

Wondering about those changes in Terms of Use/Privacy that are appearing on some genealogy websites like Ancestry.com, 23andMe.com and MyHeritage.com?

The Legal Genealogists provides a summary of what is happening and why? Which does NOT replace reading the terms of service yourself, of course.

So use her blog post as a guide of what to look for in those revised terms.
