MCGG Announces Thomas MacEntee will Present "The 1950 Census -- Are You Ready?" at our January 13, 2021, Meeting

The MCGG Board of Directors are excited to announce that Thomas MacEntee will be the speaker at our MCGG and Let's Talk...Genealogy groups combined virtual meeting Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at 7 p.m. using Zoom Meeting. The topic of the meeting is  ... The 1950 Census Are You Ready?

Thomas MacEntee, of High-Definition Genealogy, is a nationally-recognized genealogy professional and speaker. Many genealogists remember the amount of excitement in April 2012 around the release of the 1940 US Census. Following the “72 Year Rule” for records at the National Archives, the results of the 1950 US Census will be made public on Friday, April 1, 2022. It’s never too early to prepare for this valuable data related to US genealogy research!

Please note: Pre-registration using this link is required to attend this virtual meeting.

Only MCGG members on the mailing list will receive the handout and be able to view the meeting recording later.

New attendees are always welcome.

Tonight is our MCGG Virtual Meeting! Digitized Historical Books Starts at 7pm

Tonight is the night! Our MCGG and Let's Talk...Genealogy groups combined virtual meeting is tonight -- Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at 7 p.m. using Zoom Meeting. The topic of the meeting is  ... Digitized Historical Books.

We will talk about and share what we know about digitized historical books. Where to find them, tips on using them, and ask what is your favorite historical book find.

Because of the pandemic, obviously we will not be holding our holiday potluck luncheon. So, this year wear some holiday cheer to our December virtual meeting. You do not have to but it would brighten up the night.

MCGG members on the mailing list will receive the Zoom Meeting invite in the reminder email to be sent prior to the meeting. New attendees can obtain the invite link using the Library Events calendar on the website of the Mount Clemens Public Library.

New attendees are always welcome.

The Macomb County Genealogy Group Reveals Its Meeting Topics for 2021

Hi Everyone!

Today, we release MCGG's 2021 Winter/Spring MCGG & Let's Talk...Genealogy Combined Virtual Meeting Schedule.

Like for our Fall 2020 Session, due to the COVID-19 pandemic all our meetings for the Winter/Spring 2021 Session will occur virtually using Zoom Meeting. And once again we have decided to hold just one (combined) meeting each month.

We are hosting most of these meetings on Zoom Meeting with the help of the Mount Clemens Public Library. MCGG Members on the mail list will receive the meeting invite link by email. New attendees should look for the invite on Mount Clemens Public Library's Library Event Calendar.

The exception is that our January 2021 meeting on Zoom Meeting will be hosted by our speaker that month. This meeting will require all attendees to pre-register before the meeting.

The meeting dates and topics can be found on the respective meeting pages of this blog site or in our Southeast Michigan Genealogy Events calendar on the Calendar page. (We are in the process of updating the SouthEast Michigan Genealogy calendar for the area's other societies and groups as they revise and release their schedules.)

On both the MCGG Friday Meetings and Let's Talk Meetings pages, you will now find the PDF file link of our current meetings flyer which can be viewed and downloaded. (Please note the image of the flyer in this post is just a low-res image. To see/download the flyer PDF you need to go to either of the meeting pages.)

We hope you join us and enjoy the coming genealogy season.

See you soon at the Mt Clemens Public Library!
