Family Tree DNA provides an ethnicity (admixture) report, list of DNA matches, chromosome browser and allows DNA matches to contact a match directly if that match allows it. Once tested, DNA samples are stored so that additional test types (upgrades) can be added if desired. So if you have already have a tested person that you want to add another test type that is on sale, sign into that test's account before adding the sale test to the cart. Family Tree DNA is the only genealogy DNA testing company that offers all three DNA test types: autosomal, Y-DNA and mtDNA. No subscription is needed to see/use all the DNA matching features. MyHeritageDNA Just $29 -- New Lowest Price Ever; Black Friday Sale Until Nov. 29

MyHeritage started its Black Friday DNA Sale ... early and knocked it out of the park.  MyHeritageDNA (autosomal) tests now regularly $89 each are on sale for the new lowest price ever  just $29 each (plus taxes and shipping.) Orders of two or more DNA kits receive free shipping. This sale ends, November 29, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.

MyHeritageDNA is becoming a "must be at" for its DNA tools. Its customer base is more international. MyHeritage has chromosome browser feature and made its internal member messaging feature free. It also offers an ethnicity/admixture report and a list of DNA matches. No data subscription is needed to see/use all the DNA matching features including its AutoCluster feature. A few additional features were added earlier this year and last year -- like an update to its ethnicity estimates and genetic groups including viewing the genetic groups of your match and seeing what you have in common.

 

As a reminder, MyHeritageDNA also sells its test kits on Amazon.com and often at sale prices when it is having a sale. However, for this sale though the MyHeritageDNA test is on sale on Amazon it is NOT at the same sale price rather it is $45. If you do find a sale as good as from the website at some point in the future, make sure the seller shown is MyHeritage fulfilled by Amazon and not sold by a third-party unauthorized seller. Vivid-Pix Software and Bundles Pre-Black Friday Sale and Giving Tueday Sale (Use that Coupon Code to Save More!)

During our meetings we sometimes refer to the easy color-editing features of the MyHeritage website or the computer software of a company called Vivid-Pix.

Vivid-Pix is advertising it's Pre-Black Friday Sale and a Giving Tuesday Sale. The company has grown a bit since we first talked about it and now offers a bit more than its two photo correction software applications. Vivid-Pix has bundles for institutions and the home-user.

Not sure if the Restore software is for you or a loved one? Come into our favorite library's Local History and Genealogy Room and try the Restore software in-person on the new scanning station that replaced the BookScan station. Or, some of Vivid-Pix's software have free trial periods.

First a caution. Make sure you are seeing the sale pricing you are expecting. There seems to be two different sales going on at the same time with different pricing. But there is a trick.

The website's Pre-Black Friday Sale is on its Gift Guide page. The sale is a little confusing because it starts with a focus on institutions, then caregivers then home-users. All three levels have bundles with scanning equipment and then just the software packages to add to your existing computer/scanner system. So Tip #1 is look to the bottom for the home-user level. We'll note the mostly likely items on sale that may be of interest to our genealogy members.

The Giving Tuesday Sale came via email. It says, now through December 3 (Giving Tuesday), Vivid-Pix is discounting its most popular products. Purchase for yourself or as a gift. Let's learn and share what we know about using the PERiodical Source Index developed by the Allen County Public Library, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Our plan is that our meetings will be hybrid meaning the meeting will be in-person with a virtual Zoom option. The Zoom meeting link (or registration link) will now be found on our Southeast Michigan Genealogy Events Calendar and our Facebook page. The link will usually be added the night before or morning of the meeting. Members will receive a reminder email with the Zoom invite or a reminder that registration is required for a meeting.
