Mother's Day and Genealogy ... Pretty Sales on DNA and Vivid-Pix!

Happy Early Mother's Day to All!

Regardless of whether you are a Mom or even female, there are genealogy-related sales this time of year that might be of interest to you. Rather than detail them all individually, consider this a scavenger hunt of sorts.

April had DNA Day and several sales that started then turn into Spring or Early Mother's Day sales so some deals have been going on for while. Without further ado, here is a list.

DNA

AncestryDNA is now on sale for $29 until May 11, at 10 a.m. ET with taxes and shipping extra. There are options: pay $30 for the DNA test and 3-months of Ancestry World Explorer (which will renew at $99.95 every 3-months unless cancelled before term renewal) or pay $39 for the DNA test and 3-months of Ancestry All-Access (which will renew at $149 every 3-months unless cancelled before term renewal.

MyHeritageDNA has returned with the lowest price ever of $19.90 on its regularly priced $89 MyHeritageDNA test. Taxes and shipping extra; free shipping for 2 or more test kits. This sale ends today, May 3, 2026. There is also an option to pay the same price and also get 1-month of Complete free trial of MyHeritage's data subscription* and get free shipping. (*After 30 days, you'll enjoy a 50% discount and be charged $299 $149 for the first year. The Complete subscription renews annually. You can cancel anytime.)

FamilyTree DNA extended its DNA Day sale until April 30 but now is running its Mother's Day sale which runs until May 11. Some of the pricing it still the same.

FTDNA's FamilyFinder (autosomal) test is on sale for $39, regulary $79. The mtDNA (mitochondrial/maternal for male and females) test is now $119, regularly $159, which is $10 better than the DNA Day sale. The FamilyFinder + mtFull Sequence bundle (for one person to test) is on sale for $149, regularly $229. This is $10 better than the DNA Day sale.

The Y-DNA tests (for testing males only) are back to regular pricing but they will more than likely be on sale for Father's Day. The prices listed for this sale for Y-DNA tests were better during the DNA Day Sale.

23andMe's Mother Day sales goes until May 10. The Basic Ancestry test is 20% off so on sale for $79, regularly $99. Taxes and shipping extra; limit 4 tests. The Advanced Ancestry+Health test is on sale for $80, regularly $199. That is a savings of 55%. With this test the 23andMe+ Premium renews at $69 per year which can be cancelled at anytime. The Ultimate Health+ Advanced Ancestry is on sale for $399, regularly $499. With this test the 23andMe+ Total Health renews at $199 per year which can be cancelled at anytime. The last two test types are FSA & HSA Eligible.

LivingDNA is on sale for $69, regularly $124, plus taxes and shipping. This company is in England and for UK ancestry tries to go down to the county-level.

With any of the DNA companies you can see prior posts that MCGG has written by using the labels in the left column. Just click on the label and see posts on prior sales and changes throughout the years with each company's testing.

Also running sales are:

Vivid-Pix is using a coupon code Family2026 for its Mother's Day and Father's Day sale. Save $10 on its Vivid-Pix RESTORE software making it $39.99. Save $40 on the Memory Station Home Edition Software for Windows (includes Vivid-Pix Restore software) making it $159.99. See our past posts on Vivid-Pix using our labels in the left-hand column.

There are probably more out there. Good luck finding a sale on what you want.

DNA Sales for April 2025

Though the main DNA sales take place from Black Friday through the New Year holiday season, there are DNA sales at other times of the year. Usually holidays (from the U.S. perspective) and, of course, DNA Day on April 25 of each year. Sometimes they start early and sometimes they pop-up when you are not expecting them. The tip is to check websites often.

MyHeritage DNA

MyHeritage DNA is having a flash sale that ends today, Sunday April 13, 2025. For this Flash DNA Sale the price is $33 (regularly $89) plus shipping. If you order two kits, there is free shipping. You have the choice of just the DNA kit or the DNA kit with a 30-day Complete free trial*.

*After 30 days, you'll enjoy a 50% discount and be charged $299 $149 for the first year. The Complete subscription renews annually. You can cancel anytime.

AncestryDNA

AncestryDNA has no sale at this time but keep an eye out for either an Easter Sale or DNA Day Sale in the near future.

LivingDNA

LivingDNA has started its DNA Day Sale. Its DNA Ancestry Kit is regularly $124 and is on sale for $69 plus shipping.

LivingDNA is based in the United Kingdom so if you have a lot of English and Irish ancestry the more detailed regions for Britain and Ireland in the ethnicity may be of interest to you. The company is still building itself so at a sale price it may be worth a try. Perhaps you will find a clue to direct your search.

BUT remember that LivingDNA is now requiring that your LivingDNA test be taken/used and sent in within one year of the date of purchase. They will not process tests older than that despite the swab test tube saying its expiration date is well after that. Based on a LivingDNA Support article this change may have been implemented in early 2019. However, we are not sure when its Terms of Services was changed to reflect this. So if you have a LivingDNA test sitting around you might want to check its purchase date. Hopefully you still have time, or you may need to pay for shipping on a replacement test kit.

Family Tree DNA

Family Tree DNA began its DNA Day Sale early as it celebrates its 25th birthday. This sale goes through April 30, 2025.

Many of the DNA testing companies also sell their basic tests on Amazon but when they hold a sale on their own website, it may or may not be on sale on Amazon. So check there (usually shipping is free on Amazon but make sure the seller is indeed the testing company and not a third-party entity.

Remember you can look at past DNA sales by selecting the post label in the left-hand column to compare sale prices. Useful ones are DNA, AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA, LivingDNA and 23andMe.

A note about 23andMe, the company is in bankruptcy and at this time it is not known who/what the potential buyers are and their plans. If you have DNA there, keep a close eye on the situation so you can decide if you want to delete your DNA test at 23andMe. You should download you DNA data and screen capture any ethnicity and match information so you have it for the future.

DNA and Law Enforcement are in the News ... Again — So be Informed

DNA and law enforcement are in the news ... again. With news services/companies interviewing a variety of people who may or may not know a great deal about genetic genealogy. It is almost guaranteed to be part of the conversations when genealogists (from experienced to beginner) gather in-person or online.

The informed genealogist often will talk back to the screen when the interviewee misspeaks or is uninformed about the topic naming a DNA/genealogy company that does the opposite of what they just said. Similar to how many of us talk back to the screen during our various favorite genealogy TV shows when something is said, implied or glanced over and the talk-backer knows the reality/truth whichever it might be.

From prior information we know GEDmatch (owned by for-profit Verogen, Inc. for a few years) and FamilyTreeDNA are the two genealogy/DNA companies that allow law enforcement to upload genetic information of CERTAIN crime victims or criminals to their DNA matching databases. Non-law enforcement test submitters (the original customers) of these website companies have the option to opt-in or opt-out for each of their tests for allowing law enforcement/law enforcement third-party managed kits to see or not see their test among the DNA matches if they match. At one of these companies, there is no way to opt out of all law enforcement matching.

By CERTAIN crime victims or criminals, generally this is meant as a deceased individual or to identify the perpetrator of a homicide or sexual assault.

The DNA Geek blog reported back in May 2018 on the use of DNA databases by law enforcement. This was after incidents at GedMatch and just prior to FamilyTreeDNA making privacy policy (and law enforcement use) changes without properly notifying customers of the change prior to the change in policy.

Until the more experienced DNA/Genealogy people update what we know about law enforcement being able to use which databases, etc. here are some links to learn about some of this yourself.

AncestryDNA

Ancestry releases a transparency report about every six months with the latest released in September covering January to June of 2022. Links to prior reports are listed at the bottom of the webpage. This report and other information can be found on Ancestry's privacy and philosophy page.

Ancestry has a page set up for law enforcement. Specifically it says:

Requests for Ancestry User Information
Ancestry does not voluntarily cooperate with law enforcement. To provide our Users with the greatest protection under the law, we require all government agencies seeking access to Ancestry customers’ data to follow valid legal process and do not allow law enforcement to use Ancestry’s services to investigate crimes or to identify human remains.

[Note: Italic emphasis is ours not Ancestry's.]

This is not to say that these genetic or forensic genetic genealogy researchers don't use the information learned from where they do have DNA access to do research using these other websites with genealogy documents and family trees.

MyHeritage DNA

MyHeritage is a foreign (Israel) company but their DNA test processing is done in Texas (at FamilyTreeDNA.) MyHeritage in its posted Privacy Policy says that it does not let law enforcement use its DNA services. The privacy policy was updated in November 2022.  The Legal Genealogist aka Judy Russell wrote about this highlighting the plain language in the policy back in July 2021.

LivingDNA

LivingDNA is another foreign (England) company that has processing labs in the USA and Europe. Until recently its DNA matching service was not active. LivingDNA's privacy policy is dated as of 2019.

Under Part C: sharing your information, under 3. The Legal Process it says:

There are circumstances in which we may be legally required to disclose information. Examples of this include where we are subject to a binding court order, subpoena, or a legally binding direction by a regulator, and where we are required to share information with HM Revenue and Customs. We reserve the right to share personal information where we reasonably believe that we are legally required to do so. We will not share your personal information with law enforcement agencies unless we believe that we are legally compelled to do so. We may also share information where this is necessary for us to exercise or enforce our rights under our Terms or otherwise at law, or where we reasonably and in good faith consider it necessary or appropriate to do so in order to protect the security of our site, customers or employees.

The section goes on to say:

We may share anonymous data with third parties including for research purposes where customers have opted in to take part in our research initiatives. This is data which combines data from a pool of customers. We will only do this where no person can be identified from this data. If we share this ‘aggregate’ data, we do not ever receive a payment for the data. We do not sell customer data, ever.

As a reminder: Be further informed ... read these privacy policies yourself.

23andMe

23andMe releases a transparency report quarterly. which indicates the number of requests by location. It does not seem to say as much as Ancestry's report revealing the type of request but they appear to have not produced any information.

The 23andMe Privacy Policy was recently updated in December 2022. There is a segmented view of the policy here, selecting data sharing will yield a few informational bubbles. The last bubble, "Third parties related to law, harm, and the public interest" which starts off with: "We can’t say it enough – 23andMe will not provide information to law enforcement unless required by law to comply with a valid court order, subpoena, or search warrant..."

FamilyTreeDNA

As we mentioned above, Family Tree DNA is one of the DNA/genealogy companies that allows law enforcement or their third-party genetic researcher contractors to upload genetic information to its DNA database. FTDNA had some issues a few years ago when it was learned by customers that it had been allowing law enforcement to upload information and use the database without changing the posted policy or notifying its customers of the change in policy before the policy went into effect nor giving customers the ability to consent or not consent -- essentially someone else making the decision for those that tested. Eventually FTDNA updated its privacy policy after the fact and created a opt-out option (which is criticized because deceased testers can't opt-out unless someone else is managing that test after the tester is deceased.)

FTDNA's current privacy policy is as of Feburary 2022. Look under Section 5 How FamilyTreeDNA shares your information. Also look at subsection E. Investigative Genetic Genealogy Matching (IGGM) for more details. If you agree to see your DNA Matches but the tester of the kit you manage (yourself or another person) does not want law enforcement to see his/her kit, you must take the steps to do the Opt-Out option. If the tester of a kit you manage is deceased and this situation was not discussed, ethically you must opt-out that tester from matching law enforcement.

GEDmatch

GEDmatch, a third-party online service to compare autosomal DNA data files from different testing companies, has gone through some changes both before and after its purchase in December 2019 by Veroge, Inc. (a sequencing company dedicated to forensic science.) GEDmatchPro went live in December 2020 "focuses on solving crimes using more than 1.2 million DNA profiles hosted on GEDmatch's platorm," according to Wikipedia.

GEDmatch allows an optional alias for each kit uploaded. Using an alias means other users (matches) won't see the tester's name. For privacy concerns it is suggested to create/use an anonymous email address (one with no identifying information.)

There are four privacy options at GEDmatch.

Public Opt-In compares the DNA kit to all other kits in the GEDmatch database, including kits submitted by law enforcement to identify unidentified human remains and to identify perpetrators of violent crimes.

Public Opt-Out compares the DNA kit to all other kits in the GEDmatch database, including kits submitted by law enforcement to identify unidentified human remains. The kit will not be compared with kits submitted by law enforcement to identify perpetrators of violent crimes.

Private kits will not be available for any matching. The kit will be in the database and will be batch processed by no comparison results will be shown unless this privacy setting is changed by the owner/administrator/manager of the kit.

Research option kits will not be shown in match result reports generated for other kits. Genealogy and Genetic Genealogy require the sharing of information. This option is provided primarily for artificially created research kits but may be used for regular uploads if you have specific reasons for doing so.

That last part of the Research option sounds ominous but there are legit reasons to use this option. For example, a kit for a deceased tester whom the law enforcement situation was never discussed to learn the deceased tester's opinion/decision on the topic. Or, for a tester whose kit you administer (or yourself) who disagrees for whatever reason and does not want to share his/her kit with law enforcement.

Regardless, these privacy options can be changed and changed back as needed if needed.

GEDmatch's privacy policy can be found here.

Other DNA Related Things to Keep in Mind

Just about each Spring, The DNA Geek releases a chart on the estimated size of each DNA/Genealogy testing company. The latest being from March 2022. Sometimes the estimates come from statements directly from the companies themselves. Sometimes it is estimates estimated by someone else. These are nice numbers to know: how big is the DNA match pool in which you are fishing.

DNA testing can be costly. Always try to get an autosomal DNA test on sale. (Holiday sales are ending soon from some companies so keep that in mind.) If time is a priority, you will be surprised on what local stores you may find these DNA/genealogy testings kits -- though they might not be on sale. To help save money it is often suggested start with an AncestryDNA test and then transfer/upload the kit data to the companies that take transfers: FamilyTree DNA, MyHeritageDNA and LivingDNA. 23andMe does not take transfers so you have to test directly with them. 23andMe has a health focus, but it is the second biggest DNA match pool out there.

If you need Y-DNA (direct male) or mtDNA (direct female) DNA tested and the ability to see matches, etc., you need to test directly with FamilyTree DNA which is the only DNA/genealogy testing company that tests Y-DNA and mtDNA. Both 23andMe and LivingDNA will give you a peek at the tester's Y-haplogroup (if male) and mt-haplogroup but not comparable matches.

And keep an eye out around RootsTech conference time, for the last few years MyHeritageDNA has had a "grandfathered in" sale with free DNA transfers that are grandfathered-in so no unlock fee or data subscription is needed to use all the DNA tools/features. (Data subscription is still required to see the records data.) Let's hope they run this sale again.

Hope this helps you with your and/or your family's DNA testing for genealogy decisions.

See you someday soon at our favorite library!

LivingDNA is having a Very Early Black Friday Sale for this Holiday Season

The Holiday Season is here!

We will try to highlight what we have found but may not write a post about all we have seen. Our best advice is if you are interested in a website or product, check on that website/product frequently just in case they hold a flash sale.

Please take note, wondering minds can always click the labels/tags in our blog's left-hand column to see the sales in past years to get an idea of the sales trends for prior years. Click on the desired topic or the Savings tag/label.

Living DNA
The sale over at LivingDNA is up to 50% sale and titled a Black Friday Sale.  LivingDNA Your Ancestry Kit regularly priced at $99 is on sale for $59 plus shipping and taxes. (Free shipping when purchasing 3 or more kits at the same time.) It is described as the full ancestry experience from your deep ancestry to DNA matching. It includes recent ancestry, sub-regional ancestry breakdown, your DNA today, extended ancestry, DNA matching and free ancestry updates.

The LivingDNA Your Ancestry Kit is the original LivingDNA test comparable to autosomal DNA tests at other genealogy/DNA testing companies.

A sale ending date has not been spotted.

LivingDNA is based in the United Kingdom so if you have a lot of English and Irish ancestry the more detailed regions for Britain and Ireland in the ethnicity may be of interest to you. (Part of the now LivingDNA Your Ancestry Kit.) The company is still building itself so at a sale price it may be worth a try. Perhaps you will find a clue to direct your search.

LivingDNA also sells a Wellbeing test (looks a some health) and a Your Ancestry and Wellbeing test. Both of these tests are also on sale as well.

BUT we became aware that LivingDNA is requiring that your LivingDNA test be taken/used and sent in within one year of the date of purchase.

As a reminder, LivingDNA sometimes sells its test kits on Amazon.com and often at sale prices when it is having a sale. However, for this sale LivingDNA is not selling its tests at all on Amazon at this time. (At the times when LivingDNA does, make sure the seller shown is LivingDNA fulfilled by Amazon and not sold by a third-party unauthorized seller.) Non-Amazon Prime members get free shipping due to the total cost if the kit is fulfilled by Amazon; prime members just get quicker 2-day shipping for free.

Sales for DNA Day -- April 25, 2022!

DNA Day is April 25. And as you can surmise there are DNA Sales going on to celebrate the day.

Please take note, wondering minds can always click the labels/tags in our blog's left-hand column to see the sales in past years to get an idea of the sales trends for prior years. Click on the desired topic or the Savings tag/label.

MyHeritageDNA
MyHeritageDNA
(autosomal) tests now regularly $89 each are on sale for $49 each (plus taxes and shipping.) The sale "ends soon" meaning 11:59 pm April 25.
Orders of two or more DNA kits receive free shipping.

MyHeritageDNA is one of the younger players in the DNA and genealogy testing niche but it is becoming a must be at for its DNA tools. Its customer base is more international. MyHeritage has chromosome browser feature and made its internal member messaging feature free. It also offers an ethnicity/admixture report and a list of DNA matches. No data subscription is needed to see/use all the DNA matching features including its AutoCluster feature. A few additional features were added earlier this year and last year -- like an update to its ethnicity estimates and genetic groups including viewing the genetic groups of your match and seeing what you have in common.

As a reminder, MyHeritageDNA also sells its test kits on Amazon.com and often at sale prices when it is having a sale. However, for this sale the MyHeritageDNA test is only on sale for $59.00 on Amazon. So it may be close to the same price as buying direct from MyHeritage and paying shipping costs. Make sure the seller shown is MyHeritage fulfilled by Amazon and not sold by a third-party unauthorized seller. Non-Amazon Prime members get free shipping due to the total cost and because it is fulfilled by Amazon; prime members just get quicker 2-day shipping for free.
Look for this before adding your item to your cart.

There are some upgrades on sale too. Remember, the upgrades available to your DNA tests depends on what you have already tested. We haven't spotted the standard Family Tree DNA Sales Chart for this sale yet that usually provides a clearer list of what tests/upgrades are included with a particular sale.

Family Tree DNA provides an ethnicity (admixture) report, list of DNA matches, chromosome browser and allows DNA matches to contact a match directly if that match allows it. Once tested, DNA samples are stored so that additional test types (upgrades) can be added if desired. So if you have already have a tested person that you want to add another test type that is on sale, sign into that test's account before adding the sale test to the cart. Family Tree DNA is the only genealogy DNA testing company that offers all three DNA test types: autosomal, Y-DNA and mtDNA. No subscription is needed to see/use all the DNA matching features. See our previous post containing some Reminders and Cautions regarding changes with Family Tree DNA.
warnings.

As a reminder, Family Tree DNA sometimes sells its autosomal DNAtest kits (called FamilyFinder) on Amazon.com and often at sale prices when it is having a sale. For this sale it is $49 at Amazon so buying from Amazon eliminates the shipping costs. (Make sure the seller shown is FamilyTreeDNA fulfilled by Amazon and not sold by a third-party unauthorized seller.) Non-Amazon Prime members get free shipping due to the total cost and because it is fulfilled by Amazon; prime members just get quicker 2-day shipping for free.

Look for this before adding your item to your cart.

Ancestry DNA
At this point, AncestryDNA has not yet announced a sale for DNA Day 2022. Keep an eye out closer to April 25, to see what sale is offered up to customers.

23andMe
23andMe's current sale is different at this time. Buy 1 DNA test and get 10% off each additional kit purchased in the same order.
Remember taxes and shipping are extra. It is possible the offer might be tweaked on DNA Day though that is just a guess based on prior years.

23andMe's Ancestry + Traits DNA test is $99 at its regular price.

23andMe's Health + Ancestry Service
is $199 at its regular price.

The sale option is a bundle: the 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service test kit plus one year of the 23andMe Membership. The Health+Ancestry test is regularly $199 but on sale for $169 when purchased as a bundle with the $29 one year prepaid membership. (Total price $198.)

23andMe Ancestry Service (autosomal DNA) provides an ethnicity (admixture) report, list of DNA matches, chromosome browser and an internal member messaging system. 23andMe also provides a general look at your Y-DNA haplogroup (if male) and a general look at your mtDNA haplogroup. Some DNA matching features/tools are now part of the subscription service. A newer feature is the Family Tree feature which is automatically built from your DNA relationships. See the 23andMe website to learn more about the Health service features which includes 10+ Health Pre-disposition reports, 5+ Wellness reports, and 40+ Carrier Status reports.

23andMe made some changes to its service in 2019 without any announcements to its customers before the changes happened. Be aware that with the recent ethnicity update it was learned that testers on the earlier testing chips would not receive any ethnicity updates at this time, only those on the V5 Chip. Also, a few months prior testers' DNA matches were reduced down to just 1,500 matches. (That leaves most testers with matches related at the furthest in the 4th to 5th cousin range.) The search capabilities also have been restricted from what it had been capable of before. 23andMe is now implementing a yearly subscription ($29/year) for customers on the V5 Chip who also have tested their Health too. Those that subscribe get access to three times the DNA matches, advanced search capabilities (like those that were there before and some other ways to filter matches), and a new series of health reports related to genetics and medicines as well as some predisposition reports. Unfortunately, that would mean existing customers not on the V5 chip would need to retest (yes, pay) so their DNA is on the V5 chip. But if an early tester is deceased there is no way to re-test that person on the V5 Chip.

With these changes, 23andMe reduces it usability for most genealogists to use DNA to aid their research. For adoptees, donor conceived and others searching for mis-attributed parentage (not parent expected) situations, you still never know where that someone tested and so at a good sale price the 23andMe Ancestry Only test or really good sale price for the 23andMe Ancestry+Health test it might be worthwhile. But there may be limitations if that someone they seek is tested on a V4 or earlier chip.

As a reminder, 23andMe also sells its test kits on Amazon.com and often at sale prices when it is having a sale. At this time, 23andMe DNA tests are not on sale at Amazon. Non-Amazon Prime members get free shipping due to the total cost and because it is fulfilled by Amazon while Amazon Prime members just get quicker 2-day shipping for free. But be cautious and make sure the test kit you are buying is "sold by 23andMe, Inc and fulfilled by Amazon" to insure you are buying a genuine test kit. You will find this information just below the price. See the image below.

Look for this before adding your item to your cart.

Living DNA
The sale over at LivingDNA is a 30% sale in honor of DNA Day 2022.  LivingDNA Full Ancestry Kit regularly priced at $99 is on sale for $69 plus shipping and taxes. (Free shipping when purchasing 3 or more kits at the same time) It is described as the full ancestry experience from your deep ancestry to DNA matching. It includes recent ancestry, sub-regional ancestry breakdown, your DNA today, extended ancestry, DNA matching and free ancestry updates.

The LivingDNA Full Ancestry Kit is the original LivingDNA test comparable to autosomal DNA tests at other genealogy/DNA testing companies.

LivingDNA is based in the United Kingdom so if you have a lot of English and Irish ancestry the more detailed regions for Britain and Ireland in the ethnicity may be of interest to you. (Part of the now LivingDNA Full Ancestry Kit.) The company is still building itself so at a sale price it may be worth a try. Perhaps you will find a clue to direct your search.

BUT we have become aware that LivingDNA is now requiring that your LivingDNA test be taken/used and sent in within one year of the date of purchase.

As a reminder, LivingDNA sometimes sells its test kits on Amazon.com and often at sale prices when it is having a sale. Father's Day DNA Sales -- are Not Just for Fathers! Most Sales Good Thru June 20

We have not been posting as much as in prior years, but as promised during Wednesday's June meeting on Zoom, here is a post about sales on DNA for this year's Father's Day. Remember, you can use these DNA sales for whomever you want to test as long as he/she matches the gender required for the test.

AncestryDNA

For Father's Day the AncestryDNA (autosomal) test regularly $99 is on sale for $59, a savings of 40 dollars. Shipping and taxes are extra. This sale ends June 20, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Be aware that with an active paid subscription to Ancestry, there is fuller access to some DNA features such as all available information about people is shown in ThruLines; Matches' public family trees are viewable instead of just a preview of five generations; and up to seven generations of surnames instead of up to five surnames are shown for direct ancestor surnames from your matches' trees.

From Ancestry.com, a look at AncestryDNA with and without a data membership/subscription.

Access to these extra features end if you discontinue your data subscription. Some of these extra features require a public family tree linked to the AncestryDNA kit.

AncestryDNA Traits now gives a look at 26 personal traits. These traits are:  Birth Weight, Facial Hair Thickness, Omega-3, Photic Sneeze Reflex, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitaman E, Wisdom Teeth,

From Ancestry.com

AncestryDNA is the one DNA/genealogy testing site that does not provide a chromosome browser tool which allows you to see the chromosome segments you share in common with a match which is one of the scientific ways to confirm a match is a true match and not a match by chance. To access a chromosome browser you would need to download your kit's DNA data and upload that data to one of the three companies that do provide a chromosome browser: MyHeritageDNA, Family Tree DNA, and the third-party GedMatch.com website.

We are not sure if the FREESHIPDNA code will work on the Ancestry website with this sale but it does not hurt to try it.

Want to save on shipping costs? Remember AncestryDNA also sells its test kits on Amazon.com and often at sale prices when it is having a sale. For this sale, as of now when this post was written the AncestryDNA test is listed at $59 and AncestryDNA+Traits is also listed at $69. So, this time the sale price on the Amazon website is as good as the Ancestry website deal or a bit better because shipping is free. Amazon Non-AmazonPrime members get free shipping due to the total cost and because it is fulfilled by Amazon while AmazonPrime members just get quicker 2-day shipping for free. But be cautious and make sure the test kit you are buying is "sold by AncestryDNAOfficial and fulfilled by Amazon" to insure you are buying a genuine test kit. You will find this information just below the price. See the image below.

MyHeritageDNA
For Father's Day, MyHeritageDNA (autosomal) tests regularly $79 each are on sale for $59 each (plus taxes and shipping) until June 20, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. Orders of two or more DNA kits receive free shipping.

MyHeritageDNA is one of the newer players in the DNA and genealogy testing niche.

However, for this sale the MyHeritageDNA test is not on sale on Amazon. Remember when you do find a sale price, make sure the seller shown is MyHeritage fulfilled by Amazon and not sold by a third-party unauthorized seller. Non-Amazon Prime members get free shipping due to the total cost and because it is fulfilled by Amazon; prime members just get quicker 2-day shipping for free.

Living DNA
To celebrate Father's Day the LivingDNA Full Ancestry Kit regularly priced at $99 is on sale for $79 plus shipping and taxes.

23andMe
The 23andMe Father's Day Sale runs through June 20, 2021. Remember taxes and shipping are extra

23andMe's Ancestry + Traits DNA test is regularly $99 but is on sale for $79.

23andMe's Health + Ancestry Service
is regularly priced $199 but is on sale for $149. If you buy a second Heath + Ancestry Service kit at the same time that second kit is just $99 (a fifty percent savings.)

Another sale option is a bundle: the 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service test kit (regularly $199, sale $149) plus the 23andMe Membership at a sale price of just $9.99 (renews at $29/year.)

23andMe made some changes to its service last year without any announcements to its customers before the changes happened.

However, for this sale period the Ancestry+Traits is only on sale for $88.95 which is $10.05 higher than the sale price at the 23andMe website. It is likely close to the same price as buying from the 23andMe website at current sale price and paying the shipping costs. The 23andMe Health+Ancestry test offered on Amazon by 23andMe is not on sale at this time. However, be cautious there are 23andMe Health+Ancestry tests offered on Amazon by a third-party seller.

(In the future if you do buy these tests on the Amazon website, make sure the seller shown is 23andMe fulfilled by Amazon and not sold by a third-party unauthorized seller.) Non-Amazon Prime members get free shipping due to the total cost and because it is fulfilled by Amazon; prime members just get quicker 2-day shipping for free.

Family Tree DNA provides an ethnicity (admixture) report, list of DNA matches, chromosome browser and allows DNA matches to contact a match directly if that match allows it. Once tested, DNA samples are stored so that additional test types (upgrades) can be added if desired.

For this sale it is $59 at Amazon so if you don't need a YDNA test buying from Amazon eliminates the shipping costs.
