Michigan genealogists get your bunny slippers (and blankets -- it's cold outside) ready, there is a new Michigan database of digitized original records as of today. Ancestry.com just released: Michigan, Marriage Records, 1867 - 1952.
Here are the details. The online index goes up to 1952 but you will only find actual images of the records up to the year 1938 due to Michigan laws. Prior to this, FamilySearch.org had images of marriage records up to 1925. That means there are now 13 more years of images available and 27 more years of index and transcribed records.
Hopefully, the posting of the additional images of the Michigan Death Certificates (up to 1938) on SeekingMichigan.org is closer at hand? (Is everyone crossing your fingers and toes? You can click the mouse or swipe the touchpad with crossed fingers ... maybe with some practice.)
Another interesting database collection added last week on Ancestry.com is the Canada, Quaker Meeting Records, 1786-1988. The database contains digitized black and white images of the various meeting records from the microfilm copies AND an online index. The meetings include one in Lenawee County, Michigan. Unfortunately, we've seen a problem with the search features for this database. Trying to narrow down the search parameters to a specific meeting or area does not seem work no matter which field you try to use. There is not a field specifically for meeting location. Hopefully, it will be addressed soon. Until then you'll need to wade through all the results manually to find the ones for the meeting you seek. Of course, don't forget to investigate the others, you might find something surprising.
Hey Ancestry.com, can we get the New York Quaker Meeting Records like this also and not just the couple certificates currently online?
Good Luck searching everyone!
See you soon at the Mt. Clemens Public Library!
