"Limited Release" of Family Tree Maker 2019 Began Sept. 23 With 200 Volunteers

We know a large portion of our MCGG members use Family Tree Maker as their genealogy program of choice, regardless of what version they have chosen to use. As many of you know Software MacKiev announced it was working on a 30th anniversary upgrade release called Family Tree Maker 2019 for this Summer.

Here is an update.

On Monday, September 23, 2019, Software MacKiev began its release of FTM2019 to 200 volunteers (actual users who had pre-ordered the upgrade) to take FTM2019 for a spin and do a stress test of sorts on its new cloud service called TreeVault. If they get their 200 volunteers and all goes well with that "beta test," Software MacKiev will start sending out email notifications to download FTM2019 in batches of 10,000 purchasers at a time in the order that the purchases were made.

Having a "limited release" (our words not Software MacKiev's words) is a good thing. That way aspects of the program that can not be tested well (with a limited number of about 75 core beta testers) can be further checked to see if anything needs tweaking before everyone gets their hands on the program.

Here are some links to keep yourself informed.

It shouldn't be long now. Stay patient.

See you soon at Mt. Clemens Public Library!
