MyHeritage is having a Mother's Day sale on its MyHeritageDNA autosomal DNA test until May 15.
At 30 percent off of the regular price of $99, that reduces the cost to $69 plus taxes and shipping.
MyHeritage is a newer player in the DNA and genealogy testing niche. You can learn more about it by reading a post by the Your Genetic Genealogy blogger. Because it is a newer service, its database of potential matches is smaller than those of the "Big 3" DNA/genealogy testing companies. So be aware you might not find as much as with testing at one of the "Big 3" but if you are adopted "fishing" in all the DNA matching ponds is the best search strategy.
Take note that if you have already taken an autosomal DNA test at another testing company, you can transfer your results to MyHeritageDNA which at this time transfers are still free. MyHeritageDNA accepts raw DNA data from Family Tree DNA; Ancestry DNA (V1 and V2 chips); and 23andMe (V2, V3 and V4 chips). The company expects to offer an ethnicity report sometime this month.
If you are wondering which DNA/genealogy testing companies accept data transfers, read a post by the DNAeXplained — Genetic Genealogy blogger.
See you soon at Mt. Clemens Public Library!
