This is the meeting where we covered the End of Windows 10, updating devices and new devices, Windows 11, and dealing with OneDrive. We then went on to cover DNA News, Genealogy Software, FamilySearch, Ancestry's Beta Handwriting OCR Transcription, Ancestry Club 1890, and Evidence Explained.
It was a long meeting but important information. In the video description we have included time stamps for the beginning of specific topics to allow you to jump to what you want to hear/learn.
Windows 10 is ending life on October 14, 2025, -- nine days from now. There is an Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for consumers which you can enroll in any time before October 13, 2026, which is the last day (the end) of the program. Enrolling in the ESU does not mean you can not upgrade to Windows 11 if your device supports it. The ESU gives you a sort of "security blanket" and a little more time to make a backup of your device before upgrading or a little more time to backup and make that new device purchase.
Of course, everything is in your handout for that meeting (for MCGG members) which was sent in a Thursday, Sept. 4 email.
See you at our favorite library!
