DYK? ... October is Family History Month! October 20, 2024

31 Days of Genealogy Inspiration

October 20, 2024

Got a big project you have been avoiding? Take some time today to parse it into smaller parts and start tackling it, it is Information Overload Day.

or

Evaluate your tree for persons with very few sources. Then start sourcing them, it is National Suspenders Day. Most of us enjoy the hunting and finding rather than the sourcing and citing aspect of genealogy. Take today and focus on sourcing and citing what you have already found. Your family tree will thank you. Or better yet make all Sundays, Sunday Source Day.

or

Pick an ancestor (or a few) and write up what you know about him/her, it is National Day on Writing. Take a step further and give the same data to an GPT AI and ask it to write a biography based on the data and compare your efforts to the result from the GPT.

or

After you are done outside, consider taking another day to sort and organize your digital files, it is Clean Up the Earth Day.

It is also: Chicken and Waffles Day, National Brandied Fruit Day, International Chef Day, National Youth Confidence Day and World Toy Camera Day.

We plan to have suggestions for each day of this month. Most will be smaller ideas to focus on for a day, some might be a little larger. We will try to have at least a couple suggestions so if one does not fit with your family history, hopefully the other will work.

October is Family History Month!
